Stuart barker, director
Stuart grew up in Ongar and studied Physics with Astrophysics at Royal Holloway, University of London. His productions include L’elisir d’amore (for British Youth Opera at the Anghiari Festival), Il barbiere di Siviglia, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, Cox and Box, Dido and Aeneas, La bohème, The Wandering Scholar, The Bear, La Cenerentola, Rita (all for The Minotaur Music Theatre), Les Contes d’Hoffmann, The Rake's Progress, Trouble in Tahiti, Samson, Iolanthe, Aida, Eugene Onegin, Merrie England, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, To the Edge, The Pirates of Penzance and Scenes from the Savoy as well as revivals of Carmen (English Touring Opera), Don Pasquale (European Chamber Opera) and a new musical Hermes. He has recently directed opera scenes at The Royal College of Music, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Birmingham Conservatoire and Birkbeck’s Opera Diploma Course. Stuart has a long association with the work of British Youth Opera.
