Mark Llewelyn Evans, Baritone

Mark is one of the UK’s most exciting performers. Originally from Carmarthen in West Wales, Mark studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and The National Opera Studio in London. Since completing his studies, Mark immediately began working for most of the UK opera companies singing title roles like Don Giovanni for Holland Park & English National Opera, Papageno in the Magic Flute for Welsh National Opera and CAMI US and Marcello for Welsh National Opera.

However, Mark always knew that alongside his opera career there were other avenues he wished to pursue – and so he did! He has recorded voice overs for the cinema advertising giant Pearl & Dean, hosted events all over the world e.g. St David’s Day in Singapore and Hong Kong, and the Swansea Bay Business Awards at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea. He has sung the Bread of heaven with Katherine Jenkins at the Wales Millennium Stadium in front of 75,000 people before a rugby international as well as being commissioned on numerous occasions to present radio programmes for BBC Radio Wales.

Alongside his broadcasting and hosting, Mark still has a busy singing career working with the likes of Alfie Boe, Operababes, Shan Cothi, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and brother Wynne Evans (Gio in the Go Compare adverts). Last November Mark was asked by Carnival Cruises to take his one-man show on-board their luxury liners alongside the likes of Christopher Biggins and the show met with huge success.

Another area of the arts that Mark dreamt of pursuing was the movies and last September the dream came true – Mark was asked by director Guy Ritchie if he was free to take a part in the new Sherlock Holmes movie sequel alongside Robert Downey Jnr, Jude Law, Stephen Fry and Rachel McAdams. Filming has just completed and the film is set for UK release in cinemas in December 2011.

Mark is perfect for any occasion with his witty tales & anecdotes of what really happens backstage! An evening with Mark will take you on an emotional journey, making you laugh, cry and leaving you breathless with his heartfelt classics like Myfanwy and Some Enchanted Evening.
